HOW TO RUN YOUR OFFICE USING FREE SOFTWARE!
...Volunteer Hamilton and Bay Area Leadership presents...
A two-hour workshop will explore some of the alternatives to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as Internet Explorer, Windows, long-distance calls and the day to day computing needs of a standard office environment.
Free and Open Source Software is software developed with the aim of giving freedoms and rights to its users. Among these freedoms are open access to your software, non-restrictive licenses, and often, no financial costs. There are many well-known and excellent alternatives to popular commercial applications such as Microsoft and Adobe.

Four workshops designed to address National volunteer trends regarding new Canadians, Zoomers, Gen Next & beyond!
The ?New Volunteer? searches for meaningful volunteer impact. They include Canadian
newcomers, Zoomers, Gen Next and the High-School ?voluntolds?. Each group has their own
specialized reasons for volunteering and each group presents both opportunities and
challenges for today?s social profit organization. Upon completion of this four-part series
you will have earned a VH Certificate-of-Merit and an enhanced ability to manage our
community?s greatest resource.

CREATING LGBTQ POSITIVE SPACE IN HAMILTON
...Volunteer Hamilton and Bay Area Leadership presents...
This two-hour introductory session is for anyone wanting to know more about creating inclusive spaces, work or otherwise, for members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Community in Hamilton. This training will be of special interest to employers, managers of volunteers and anyone in Hamilton who values equity.
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer community is estimated to be approximately 10% of our city?s population equalling 50,000 people. Yet, despite this number, Hamilton lacks LGBTQ identified safe community spaces, service and resources. Explore the assumptions, misinformation and apathy that hinder our community?s forward momentum to becoming a ?Quality of Place? for all.

This 1 ½ hour workshop will cover how the HST will work, the differences from the provincial
sales tax, the impact it will have on Charities and Not for Profit organizations, and transitional rules and rebates.
Trainer: Rose Mailloux FCMA, MBA, AIMA is a Sales Tax Consultant with over 20
years experience serving clients of two multi-national accounting firms and local
and regional firms. She has provided client-focused advisory services in the
technical areas of GST, PST, HST and property taxes to many local, regional
and national businesses.
Rose has assisted clients in resolving audit assessments from various tax
authorities, preparing and submitting voluntary disclosures and completing
reviews to ensure clients maximize their tax recoveries. She has conducted
numerous client seminars on Indirect Taxes.

SNOW ANGELS VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION
It's the neighbourly thing to do! Become a Snow Angels volunteer and help a local senior or person with physical disabilities this winter.
The Snow Angels Program is holding its sixth volunteer orientation of the 2009-2010 season. The orientation lasts approximately 30 minutes and will include training, safety tips, and you will receive all of your Snow Angels documentation. All participants will receive a free gift. Register today!
